Some months back, I made a promise to share weekly poetry with you all. Often, I find myself writing new poems that won't be part of my forthcoming collection, We Alive, Beloved, and I share these on social media. It dawns on me now that I have not been faithful to that promise here on Substack, not considering that many of you do not follow me on social media.
In the spirit of honoring my word, I wish to share with you two recent poems as we prepare to step into a new week.
For those of you who have preordered my debut poetry collection, “We Alive, Beloved” (if you haven’t already…why do you hate me?), make sure you register for the launch conversation here so that you receive the eventual information about the zoom chat I’ll be hosting for preorder readers about this book and others.
Two beautiful pieces, Frederick! Thank you for continuing to share your gift with us, putting words to the emotions that so many of us are feeling but can’t express. 🤎✊🏾
The two poems you shared pierce the armor that grows without and within me. I thank you from the bottom to the top of my soul.
