This piece is so powerful, my friend. This paragraph right here:

β€œIt is as if to say, by some dark logic, that speaking against a right-wing government is to invoke the specter of hatred against all Jewish people. This is a dangerous and duplicitous game. Similar to saying that criticism of the Trump or Biden administrations is inherently tied to hatred of all white Americans. It blurs the line between political discourse and ethnic vilification, between the actions of a state and the identity of a people. In this narrative, dissent becomes sacrilege, and the critic, no matter how reasoned or compassionate their argument, is rendered a bigot.”

Amen. πŸ™

The United States government has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Israeli Political Action Committee.

Nobody is going to fight a war for Biden, he is dumber than Bush . . . Nobody is going to fight a war for this kikesucking Zionist ass-whore Nikki Haley . . . The fat, bulbous curry nigger, the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, was telling everyone how the army is full of bad racist white men, and now the Army is doing ads begging for more young white men? What happened?

Even with a full-on declaration of war from Congress, and even if Gavin Jewsome could be cheated in by ZOG somehow, with Globohomo brigades going door-to-door looking to impress white American children into military service, they will be met with armed, well-trained opposition.

White people are done fighting wars for the kikesucking Zionist ass-whores . . . With the border wide open, open warfare at home within the USA is a certainty if a foreign war is declared.

Just like the United States, Israel portrays itself as a β€œjust and diverse democracy” but in reality Israel was giving contraceptive shots to Jewish Ethiopians who immigrated to Israel 2012 without their knowledge. The racist agendas in an apartheid state with a United States β€œunconditional” tax dollar backing needs some light.

Thank you Fred for your GREAT WORK!!! I love it!

One factor that is underestimated is Christian Zionism. It's gone from an elite phenomenon Christian Zionism to mass popular Christian Zionism from the far right evangelist movement in the 1950s and they are very anti semitic. In their bible God promised the land to Israel, so it must go to Israel. They believe in the biblical prophecies, which is, you have to support Israel or there will be Armageddon everyone will get slaughtered and souls that are saved rise to heaven and everyone else goes somewhere bad, including all the Jews (it can't get any more anti semitic than that) the ones that are saved will recognize christ in time, so that's the story. Tens of millions of people that believe this. And they make up a large part of the Republican party. This is also a good portion of the push back that occurs when supporting the Palestinians.

Your rights correspond to how much power and wealth you have. It's the same on the international arena. The Palestinians have no wealth and power, so they have no rights. They don't have international support. The U.S. might threaten those showing support to the Palistinians. The "national interest" is the dominant domestic forces in society, the very rich corporations who set goverment policy. We live in a society where the population is irrelevant. Public does not determine policy. At times the population strongly opposes the polices but nothing changes. The public is disregarded. The Palestinians may get statements of support, but nothing changes. Unless there is very serious activism. - Noam Chomsky

The U.S. is already putting pressure on countries who are pulling out of Israel. When you identify personally with the state you live in, U.S. or Israel, and someone criticizes it you take it personally. Unless you don't identify personally and the ruling government is separate from you.

So many insightful, and heartbreaking, thoughts here. A brilliant piece, clearly illuminating where we, as society, find ourselves. It is not complicated or complex.

I wish everyone who claims to be β€œfor social justice” would read this, with some necessary critical reflection. But therein lies the problem, doesn’t it? We don’t like to reflect on ourselves, especially critically, and we really don’t like admitting we might have been wrong and/or learned something that changed our perspective.

I’m very tired of bodies and lives being reduced to political pawns because those with power are so afraid of losing it (or even sharing it!).

Thank you for yet another thought-provoking, moving, bang on piece of writing, Fred.

β€œHow could people so vehemently tether themselves to a man who effortlessly tramples on the ideals of equality and justice, ideals that are, to some, as American as the flag itself.”

Equality, including equal of opportunity, is a fantasy. We are not even equal to ourselves on any given day. Given that nearly all politicians trample liberty with relish, justice is not to be had via statism. Of course, Leftists think β€œjustice” is synonymous with social democracy, which is false.

Excellent essay. I never could’ve explained this to my family and friends the way you have. I’m not Jewish nor Israeli but have attended book discussions at the Jewish Center here in Cincinnati. I’ll never forget the author of Letters to My Palestinian Neighbor Yossi Klein Halevi as he was the first person from Israel I’d met. He also wrote At the Entrance to the Garden of Eden

A Jew's Search for God with Christians and Muslims in the Holy Land. To me, yt Americans need to read and listen more to real people not pundits.

Thank you for your work.

Such a beautifully written and important piece. Three things I'd like to add:

(a) you say it's not complicated, and then you draw together so many complicated threads very masterfully! I'd say it *is* complicated, mired in a history ot trickster governments and constant duplicity and missed opportunities for both sides to rise above the fray, but you made it simple to understand here.

(b) on this topic, there's a level of complexity that comes not from a place of equivocation but from a place of messy human emotions and narratives that we want to make a monolith. For example, not all of these demos against the military actions of the IDF are antisemitic, despite what folks say. Many are, as you say, led by the inspiring Jewish folks at orgs like JVP. But there's also some actions that do include antisemitism within them and I can say that, as a Jewish person, I have seen and experienced it and it's very real and scary. Protestors and demos are not a monolith, and there are hues to this movement that are toxic also.

(c) The part where you write that the people dying are not numbers, but dreams cut short -- yes, yes, yes. This is the part that is unbelievably heartbreaking. The fact that Netanyahu would put kill 10,000 Palestinians, that Hamas would kill 1,500 Israelis, that a total of nearly 2 million ppl can be displaced (counting both sides here) and the international community won't step in to stop this craziness is a horror. I believe you can't quantify grief -- the bottomless loss of an Israeli mother or a Palestinian mother is a bottomless loss -- and the hardened hearts of the leadership who are leading us into the darkness fill me with despair.

Just sharing this because I thought it dovetailed with your piece on liberal hypocrisy. Thank you for your work here, Fred. This is brilliant.
