You are one of favorite contemporary authors - you speak truth in such an eloquent and intensely emotional way! Thank you for being a huge ray of light to me and countless others in these incredibly difficult times. Wishing you JOY.

I think about stuff like this all the time, trying to find joy in a world that is getting older, rusting and falling apart faster than I can prop it up or repair it. The latest “crisis” is locating all the shut-off valves in my house and making sure they are all in working order, staring with the main shut off — a nuclear option. It’s as simple as turning them each off/on once a month to keep them limber (yeah, I haven’t done this regularly, leading to this latest panic... I know, bigger things but water spewing out at 3am is my world ending...)

Where was I going with this?

Oh yeah, grandkids. I have three and they are mostly blissfully happy! They had cereal (lucky charms, problematic, I know) Sunday morning and we were chattering away the whole time! They find joy in everything all the time. How? Do they not know what world SCOTUS created for them two days earlier? One is a girl, does she not know what they did to her a year ago? We’re in Ohio; are they both aware of the hellscape the GOP is unleashing on this state just so they can pretend they are Kings and Lords? How can they be this joyful?

I’m going on like an old man who is tired of seeing generation after generation being broken of hope and joy in this country for no reason other than a few other old men and wyte women want *RAW POWER* over as many people as they can break. Maybe there’s money in it for them, but power > money any day of the week. I don’t know why people keep having children, knowing they will just grow up to be batteries to fuel just a few of us that will not be any of us.
